We’re back on schedule Thursday the 21st, 7 p.m., at the church. Along with other fun songs, we’ll go over the numbers we’ll play on the 25th (next Monday) at the Woodland Terrace Senior Living community in Cary. Look for a complete song list in your regular email and in Dropbox early this week. (PDFs transmit better via email than on this platform.)
Expect to do some of the list we played at Pelagic for Make Music Day. We’ll do fewer songs (we have only an hour at Woodland Terrace) and some that may be more appropriate for the audience.
Tuesday the 26th we’ll be at Pelagic! Indoors if it’s rainy, outdoors if it isn’t. The next jam at the church will be August 5.
September 22: A concert and workshop featuring Ukester Brown!*
Minnesota-based and nationally known ukulele songster David Remiger (aka Ukester Brown) will host a workshop and concert at the church Thursday, September 22, 7 p.m. David is attending a wedding in the Triangle that weekend and he asked me if we could host him while he’s in the area. Of course! (He’s also planning a gig with the Fayetteville Ukulele Group that weekend.)
David will open with a half-hour seminar teaching barre chords (always helpful!) and then will perform for an extra half-hour. He’s wonderful with old-time, Tin Pan Alley-inspired songs. He loves to recover “lost” songs from that era and work up songsheets for them. David’s a delightful player and singer. Bring your ukes. It’ll be a treat.
Our 9th Anniversary Celebration will be the following week, accompanying our regular quarterly Open Mic.
For now, mark your calendars. I will create an invitation form and email it to everyone on the list. From there you can reserve a spot. The Estill Hall space can handle an audience of 50-60, tops, so we want to give our folks the first chance to get in.
I haven’t determined if we can easily sell tickets, so instead we may ask for a donation — say, $10 a person — to compensate David, and if we collect more money than he’s asking, some of the excess will go to the church and the rest to our 10th anniversary party fund.
See you Thursday!

* I made a couple of minor errors initially. David Remiger is attending a wedding on the weekend of 9/22. His post-workshop performance also will be for a half-hour. We’ll decide if we want to do any post-show uking that night. Sorry about any mixups. See you soon!
