Now aren’t you glad we didn’t try to play outside at Bond Park today?
As The Most Wonderful Time of the Year© approaches, here’s your guide to strumming fun!
Thursday, November 17, 7 p.m.: Jam at the church, including some prep for our Christmas/Holiday gigs! We’ll play some of our regular repertoire, but we can work on seasonal songs that may be less familiar or a bit tricky. Think about that, and about songs offshoots of the group might want to add for variety. The songs are in a Dropbox folder, including last year’s playlist. We have a request to do the Mariah Carey song. (I thought we had erased that from the memory banks, but perhaps we try it again … ?) Think about any festive decorations (particularly of the tabletop variety) you could bring December 1 when we record our videos for the Total Life Centers and the universe!
Tuesday, November 29, 7 p.m.: Pelagic Jam! 300 Pace Street, downtown Raleigh. It’ll be time to bring our holiday best, plus some more, to our neighborhood watering hole. Dress for the occasion if you feel like it!
Thursday, December 1, 7 p.m., at the church: Holiday music for the Total Life Centers! We’ll record for posterity. Dress festively. Bring decorations. Have fun.
Sunday, December 10, 4-6 p.m, Christmas and Holiday Songs at the Food Hall! Old North State Food Hall, U.S. 70 and Outlet Center Drive, Selma. We’re joining the North Carolina Ukulele Collective. The setlist will be available on Dec. 1. You’ll see lots of familiar numbers and a few new ones, too. Everyone who participates will eat on the house! (Rehearsals will be at the Wilson County Public Library Nov. 22 at 10 a.m. and at Sweet Palette in Fayetteville December 1, but that one conflicts with our Total Life Center performance. We should have videos of any new songs on YouTube well before the Food Hall Event. Stay tuned, as always!)
Thursday, December 15, 7 p.m. Jam at the Church! More holiday frivolity. There will be rejoicing.
Monday, December 19, 2-4 p.m. Holiday Songs at Woodland Terrace! 300 Kildaire Woods Drive, Cary. We’ll play two shows: one at 2, the other at 3, at different locations on the property. Arrive early to set up for the first one. More details on the way!
Tuesday, December 20, 2-3 p.m., Holiday Songs at Waltonwood Lake Boone! 3550 Horton Street, Raleigh 27607 (near Rex Hospital). We’ll share the Christmas spirit at a new (to us) assisted living center. Again, plan to arrive early and look for more details.
Tuesday, December 27, 7 p.m. Pelagic Jam! Auld lang syne and whatnot. Egg nog?
Thursday, December 29, 7 p.m. Final 2022 Open Mic at the church! Let’s send out the year in a big way.
Whew! What a wonderful year. Thanks to all for your energy, enthusiasm, and assistance. See you soon!
