Happy December, everyone —
I played hooky the night of our recent open mic so I could help my delightful spouse celebrate her birthday. David said it was a fine time for all. Look for videos on Facebook and YouTube soon.
As you know, it’s the most wonderful time of the year, and time for us to show it by sharing holiday joy with friends old and new. Here’s where and when:
Jam at the Church, Thursday, Dec. 7, 7-9 p.m. Church of the Nativity, 8849 Ray Road. We’re back in the saddle for our final “normal” jam of 2023 (yikes)*. I’d like to focus on seasonal music because it’s fun and meaningful and it helps get our chops ready for the dates to come. Wear festive attire and bring your jingle bells if you feel the urge. Our holiday songs are in Dropbox, in various folders titled “christmas [fill in the blank].”
Holiday Cheer at Total Life Center Bond Park, Wednesday, Dec. 13, 10:30-11:30 a.m., 110 Maury O’Dell Place, Bond Park, Cary. We’ll share some joy with our friends at the adult day center in Bond Park. It’ll be indoors. No masking required. Please arrive by 10:15 to set up. Bring music stands and any appropriate seasonal accoutrements. I’ll send out a setlist via email, but expect it to be very similar to the Christmas Playlist 2022 in Dropbox.
Seasons Greetings at Total Life Center Departure Drive, Monday, Dec. 18, 2-3 p.m., 5124 Departure Drive, Raleigh. We’ll be back where it all began, the site of our first away-from-church gig in 2015! Indoors; no masks required. Please arrive by 1:44 to set up. Bring all the things you brought or would have brought to Bond Park. Setlist forthcoming!
Make Music Winter Holiday Jam at Azure Violins, Thursday, Dec. 21, 6-8 p.m, Gateway Plaza, 2409 Crabtree Blvd., Suite 119, Raleigh 27604. We’re the headliners of Raleigh’s first Make Music Winter celebration! We’ll have a seasonal jam and be joined by some of Azure’s students and other merry-makers who want to spread seasonal joy. Some of our participants play ukulele; some play guitar; some play bowed instruments; some play percussion; some sing. We’ll have a more expansive list of songs to choose among. It’ll be a free-flowing jam with some new friends. Doors open at 6; the music starts at 6:30. The location is in the Gateway Plaza center, close to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC and the Greyhound Station. Lots of free parking. Several spots to eat and drink in the center after the event. (*NOTE: There will be NO jam at the church December 21. This will be our final gathering of the year.)
Please share this information with your friends. Have them join us for an event (even if they aren’t strummers)!
Hope to see you several times during this wonderful season. And — as a reminder —
