Hello, everybody!
Our schedule is returning to what we call normal after a crazy/fun couple of weeks.
To recap:
David (Ukester Brown) Remiger played a concert/led a workshop September 22.
We performed at the Garner Night Market September 23. (Hello, Bondettes + Dennis!)
We played bluegrass-y tunes at Pelagic September 27. (Sorry, no videos.)
We hosted an Open Mic September 29 with a jam-packed agenda. Playlist here.
We helped Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer lead an Open Uke Jam at the IBMA World of Bluegrass Festival October 1. Ukuleles were allowed in bluegrass! The playlist is linked below:
On October 4, we joined the North Carolina Ukulele Collective’s first formal rehearsal for the N.C. Whirligig Festival (November 5) in Wilson.
Also on October 4, WRAL’s Tar Heel Traveler featured our humble little outfit in a segment recorded at TLC Bond Park! (Link below the image)
We celebrated our 9th Anniversary October 6! Yummy food, great people, great fun. Among the highlights: The Bondettes/”Ukulele Ladies” Charcuterie Platter!
Whew!
How do we top this?
I have no idea. But we’re still at it. The next jam will be as usual, Thursday, October 20, at the church. We may run through a Halloween-related song or two. (David, get “Spooky” ready to roll!) Saturday the 22nd, back at the Wilson County Public Library for our second Whirligig Festival rehearsal (if you’re planning to play on the 5th), 10-noon. Tuesday the 25th, we’re at Pelagic. If the weather’s nice, we’ll be outdoors. If not, we’ll be inside, where Sybil promises to lead the patrons in song from her post behind the bar.
Mark your calendars (and stay tuned for additional details)
Tuesday, November 15: TLC Bond Park. We’ll be back for a command repeat performance, 10-11:30 a.m.
Monday, December 12: Holiday songs, TLC Bond Park. Get your jingle ready! 10-11:30 a.m.
Monday, December 19: Holiday songs, Woodland Terrace, Cary. We’ll play two sets at different locations on site. One at 2 p.m.; the second at 3 p.m. Ho ho ho!
We may have a date to play holiday songs at TLC Departure sometime in December. Details forthcoming.
There’s more, including an Open Mic December 29, but that’s enough for now.
Thanks for keeping the strum alive!
Just Rick
