Bob Dylan was making a movie nearly 50 years ago ...

The tale about Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show picking up the pieces of an unfinished Bob Dylan song and making it iconic is true. Here’s a recording of Dylan working the outline during the 1973 sessions for the soundtrack of “Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid.” A bit reminiscent of The Beatles’ “Get Back” sessions.

ADDED BONUS: Old Crow, with special guest clarinetist Allison Russell, was in Wilkesboro at Merlefest (or, as Ketch correctly called it, the “Merle Watson Festival”) at the end of April, and of course they played it!
